Elizabeth Mitchell | WonderCon 2014 - April 18 (x)| Where is Rachel headed?
"She’s having a little extensional crisis, so that continues. And in some ways she starts to pull the forces, sometimes - a little bit in her way. Which is nice. Of course, it all ends in a horrible mess. ‘Revolution’ mess. Which is great.
But, there are some good things that happen…”

I look back at my time watching LOST live as some of the best times of my life. That may sound extreme to say about a television show, but it wasn’t really the show that created so many fond memories. It was first and foremost the times I had with my friends. I introduced about two dozen people to LOST over the years, and I can’t tell you how many marathons I had with people, sharing my DVDs and catching them up so they could join the live airings. I made friends through LOST and strengthened other friendships. We had viewing groups of up to 8 or 9 people over the years, as people came and went, and about 15 people at the finale party.
Then there was the whole online scene, with the mystery-devoted sites like Sledgeweb’s LOST Stuff, forums like the Fuselage, and the entire LOST Podcasting Network which provided me with endless hours of entertainment and speculation. LOST just teased my brain with possibilities, constantly. Even though I was someone who was pretty sure that none of the really outlandish theories people had would turn out to be correct, the fact that it pushed our minds in such wild directions was a great benefit of the show.
None of that could happen now, if I were just watching the show for the first time today. There’s no online community for LOST anymore, at least not one consisting entirely of people that are seeing the show for the first time. The agonizing waits between episodes and seasons, which somehow made the show all the sweeter, are gone— you can watch as many episodes in a row as you want instantly on Netflix. Finally, it’s almost impossible for someone who is part of geek culture not to have been spoiled for at least some part of the show— at the very least, words like “time travel,” “smoke monster” and “purgatory” are tossed about all the time with LOST.
So while I may be jealous of the experience people are having who are watching LOST for the first time today, I know it pales in comparison to the experience I had watching it live years ago. That can just never be re-created.
Wow this is amazing
I never got to watch LOST live…I was actually 6 when the series started. But when I started watching LOST almost four years ago I knew it was something special. I did miss out on that community during the six years that it ran but for me personally, it came into my life at the right time. And thankfully I have gotten to know so many AMAZING LOST fans. Yeah I did find some things out early but nothing that would ruin the experience, I also did have to wait to see season six which was pure misery and I don’t know how any of you did that for six years because waiting a month to see the fate of my beautiful favorite character (Juliet shoutout yess). But really, this show is truly something special. It created bonds and experiences that I don’t think fans will ever forget whether you watched from day 1 or you just started it a month ago. LOST was perfectly perfect in every way. :)
